“The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.’” Psalm 110:1 (NKJV).
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 (NKJV).
Most people like to think of the truly evil as the enemies
of Jesus. Most people would see themselves and their loved ones as loved by
Jesus and part of the kingdom of God. Most people see themselves as good people
and deserving of going to heaven. Most people are in denial about the perfect
and righteous judgement of God.
What would you do if Jesus told you personally that you are
His enemy? How would you feel if Jesus let you know that you had offended Him
and you were not in His good graces? Can you imagine such a thing? What would
you do to change that if it were true? What would be the circumstances that
would make that true? Would it be true if you were a liar, a whore, a
manipulator, a gossip, a greedy person, a person who had an abortion without
guilt, a person who uses drugs and alcohol to excess, a person who holds hate
in their heart, a person who won’t forgive, a person who is vain, a person who
does not believe in Jesus, a person who does not believe in God?
Jesus did die for our sins on that cross so long ago but He
did not die so that His sacrifice could be taken in vain and that He could
become the justification for those who choose to continue to live in sin and
think that it is covered by His blood. If you want to have salvation then you
have to obey the Son of God.
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on the earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 (NKJV).
